The Artwork

This artwork, created by Aboriginal artist Charlie Waters from Toowoomba, beautifully captures the essence of care, connection, and education in managing eczema. Inspired by the storytelling tradition, it reflects the journey of Wila, a young child who learns to nurture their skin through gentle care, awareness, and healing. The central meeting circle represents the power of shared knowledge and community, while the outreaching lines symbolise the extension of care and education to all who need it.

Through the intricate patterns and textures, the artwork also pays tribute to the skin itself—its resilience, its need for protection, and its connection to the land. The depiction of the epidermis, reimagined in traditional Aboriginal art, reminds us that eczema care is deeply personal yet universally important. Just as Wila learned to listen to their skin and embrace healing practices, this artwork encourages us to share knowledge and support one another in the journey of living with eczema.
